The event was disrupted by hundreds of demonstrators, and Bannon, who was due to travel that night, told Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Protesters slowed down speech I doubt I can catch the plane we r enroute to the airport". Epstein replied: "That. Is a gulf air departing at 950 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon replied: "U r an amazing assistant". These exchanges were published on Wednesday together with over 20,000 documents from the estate of Epstein, the late financier convicted of sex crimes. The release by the House oversight committee includes an iMessage chat where Bannon's name is redacted. Media outlets managed to establish his involvement by cross-referencing the timeline, events, and places referenced. For example, Epstein talks about chartering a plane from the UK for the redacted user in the messages, and offers praise their "Oxford speech". Bannon took part in the Edinburgh conference on 14 November, and delivered the speech at the Oxford on November 16. Bannon, who faces no allegations of any misconduct, did not reply on the request for comment. 'I'll make sure you're well looked after' Bannon served as Trump's key aides in the lead-up to the 2016 election and in the early days of his presidency, but resigned from the White House in August 2017. He has admitted he was producing a documentary about Epstein prior to his passing and allegedly has approximately 15 hours of footage. In a recording of his podcast recently, he stated: "We plan to publish the series, the five-part series, in the coming year - at the start of next year." But the newly released materials indicate Bannon's connection with Epstein went further than being his biographer, with the disgraced financier occasionally seeming to act like a personal assistant. A short time before the conversation in which Epstein seemed to booked a charter jet for Bannon, Epstein said: "how does it feel to have the most highly paid booking agent in history ". Bannon thanked him: "You are quite capable assistant", to which Epstein responded "Therapies. Excluded". Discussing a visit to "Abu Dhabi" in another message, Epstein told Bannon: "I'll make sure you're taken care of." British Affairs Discussed in Messages The published communications also show Bannon and Epstein talking about UK politics in that year. Earlier on the day of his speech at the Oxford Union, Bannon texted Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the Brexit issue this morning with Nigel, Johnson and Rees Mogg." Then, in what appears to be a reference to the UK prime minister, the embattled British leader at the time, he continued: "They are trying to move on. may today / tomorrow…" Epstein suggested Bannon: "In my view remaining as much as you can in the UK. Ideal- so others get the dedication of your follow-up." Soon after, Epstein asked: "Will Theresa May remain in power". Bannon answered: "It seems unlikely BUT the people here have no balls" and added "Johnson ; Michael Gove; Rees Mogg; Davis - someone has to step up". May was finally removed in May 2019 after withstanding two votes of no confidence in December 2018. A representative for the political party told media: "Farage has never been in a gathering with Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Johnson." And there is no evidence that encounter took place. The US House of Representatives will decide next week on whether the justice department should make public all its records related to its probe into Epstein, who died in prison in that year. Interest in Epstein's relationships with powerful figures was reignited recently after the publication of over 20,000 documents from his estate. Some of those referenced Trump, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing. The leader was a friend of Epstein's for years, but claims they parted ways in the early 2000s, a couple of years before Epstein was first arrested.
